What is a Registered Music Teacher (RMT)?

When it comes to music, “RMT” means “Registered Music Teacher”. Full members of Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association must hold either a music degree from a post-secondary institution, an Associate or Licentiate Diploma from a recognized institution, or employment in a teaching capacity in the Music Department of a recognized College or University. Affiliate members have completed levels 9 or 10 working towards the Diploma. This ensures a high standard of education and a commitment to the profession. Registered Music Teachers are also members of the national association (CFMTA-FCAPM) of over 3,200 members.
